The job fair is free and open to everyone regardless of ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender, etc.

Meet face-to-face with recruiters and hiring managers from local and national employers, and speak candidly with industry leaders about opportunities in your field.

Whether you are an active job seeker or just curious, you will discover a career opportunity that is just right for you. If you have been recently laid-off or are unemployed, this is the perfect place for you to speak with recruiters, and discover new opportunities that may not be posted online.

Follow these tips to maximize your job fair success!

- Bring resumes a pen and a notepad.
- Dress professionally (conservative business suit, comfortable dress shoes, etc.).
- Your introduction - this is your initial interview.
- When you meet a recruiter be friendly, confident, and assertive. Give a firm handshake while introducing yourself.
- Practice a 45-60 second personal advertisement to communicate your strengths and goals. Speak clearly and make eye contact.
- Ask for business cards when you speak with recruiters.
- Send personal thank you notes via email after the event, and make follow-up calls to schedule an interview.

 With nine public television stations, GPB delivers PBS and locally produced programming to every county in Georgia, and to significant portions of surrounding states. GPB is also a listener supported public radio network that has been Georgia's source for great music and National Public Radio (NPR) news, since 1984.

Summer

Internships  

Period: June 1, 2009 to August 21, 2009

Compensation: $7.00 Per Hour

 ·       Television Production

·       Radio News Reporting & Production

·       Radio Music Production 

DEADLINE: May 1, 2009

Students will be required to approximately 20 hours per week. No previous production experience required. Internship may be eligible for Class Credit or Student Evaluation if coordinated through your college or university.

TV Production

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Must be a junior and senior level college students pursuing a degree with an emphasis or interest in production.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Research, assisting on field and studio shoots, transcribing interviews, tape logging, digitizing, dubbing, maintaining production files and other duties as assigned. 

 

Benefit: Provide knowledge of the many tasks involved in producing studio and documentary programs for a public television audience, ranging from research through field and studio production to editing.

 

Radio

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Must be an undergraduate students pursuing degrees in music, broadcast, media, journalism or communications and/or undergraduate students with a background in broadcast production preferred. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

News Reporting & Production: gather sound in the field (press conferences, etc.) for use in newscasts and Georgia Gazette; log and edit tapes, write news copy, cover local events, and perform various production duties for each week’s program; develop and execute ideas for feature stories.

Music Production: log tapes of music performances; edit interviews; research and write scripts; catalog incoming CDs for the GPB Music Library; produce web components for GPB music programming (playlists, program descriptions, etc.) 

Benefit: News Reporting and Production focuses on news reporting and gathering for statewide newscasts and feature production assistant duties.

Music Production focuses on the preparation of classical music programming for the GPB network
